Market leading national lifting solutions company Ainscough Crane Hire is playing a key role in an innovative new construction process that is revolutionizing housebuilding across the UK.
The ‘modular construction’ production line at ilke Homes’ recently opened factory in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, sees eight homes, fitted with kitchens and bathrooms, built on a daily basis for delivery to locations across the UK.
The state-of-the-art factory in Yorkshire uses innovative, modern methods of construction to build modular homes. The high-quality, energy efficient homes are transported to developments across the country and once on site, can be installed at a rate of six homes a day – cutting the time a traditional build programme takes in half in order to deliver housing to those who need it most.
Ainscough Crane Hire has been employed by ilke Homes to lift the components of the homes into place at various sites within the UK.
The potential of modular homes was recently demonstrated to delegates from across the housing industry at Housing 2018, the leading conference for property professionals. Ainscough’s Manchester depot lifted into place a show home at Barbirolli Square adjacent to the convention using a 150T crane. The home was fully installed within a day, demonstrating to attendees the potential for modular homes.
Gary Rathburn, Ainscough Crane Hire’s Manchester Depot Manager said “Ilke Homes modular construction is a game changer for the construction and housebuilding industries and represents great news for Britain’s housing market. It is a privilege for our team to play a key role in this innovative process by lifting the various components into place, and we were pleased we could help bring this innovative process to a wider audience at Housing 2018. We look forward to continuing to work with Ilke Homes and helping to create places that people are proud to call home.”
Mike Dennison, Head of Installation and Delivery at Ilke Homes said: “Ainscough have proved to be a reliable partner to Ilke in providing that profession approach to our lifting operation. Their commitment to H&S is second to none in ensuring that all our lifting operation are thoroughly planned and executed to the highest safety standards and providing the appropriate cranage to match the requirements for each of our projects.”
ilke Homes groundbreaking practices have recently been features in the national press, with both the Guardian and Daily Mail reporting on the work taking place at its Knaresborough factory.
